| | 6/28/2008 | | Beartooth Run: 8.4 or 4.2 Mile Race
The Beartooth Run began in 1968 and continues today as one of the oldest, most challenging races in the state. The course winds up the Beartooth Pass through alpine mountain scenery starting at an elevation of nearly 7,000 feet and finishing at the scenic outlook of Vista Point at more than 9,000 feet. The highway creates a beautiful backdrop for this one of a kind race and is often described as "the most beautiful roadway in America."

Continental Divide Trail between Montana's Homestake and Pipestone passes is scheduled for immediate completion, and it offers scenic vistas with majestic rock formations. This race along that scenic section celebrates the trail and the memory of one of its greatest local proponents -- the late John "the Wulfman" Wulf, who was the God Father of Butte's Piss & Moan Runners.
